A Little Inspiration [15/30]

Posted on March 6, 2012 by Sarai under Thoughts, Goals & Inspiration |

You guys sick of me yet?

Today marks the halfway point in the 30 day blogging challenge that I set out to complete two weeks ago and so far, I’m loving it. It’s forced me to be more creative with what I want to blog about. I’ve never been one of those bloggers who could blog about what I’m thinking for paragraphs at a time, although I wish I was. I find it easier to talk about my opinions, share things I like, or ramble on incoherently about something that makes me irritated or inspired.

But I only have so many opinions about issues and things that I love and am inspired by, and I’m not going to have this blog turn into one of those “These Are My Favorite Things” blogs (been there and done that). So that leaves me to think up things to talk about. Like what I’m doing on a particular day. Or asking you guys some questions. Or maybe, like today, sharing something that made me think. I feel that if I take my blog in this direction, it can evolve along with me. That’s the plan, anyway.

Now that that’s out of the way, I want to share with you guys a little inspiration for your Tuesday in the form of some quotes that I like to read over whenever I feel like I need a pick me up or just some positivity.

Here’s one that I like to turn to when I feel like giving up:

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”
–Winston Churchill

This one is probably my favorite quote of all time. It keeps things in perspective and forces me to look from the outside in and not the other way around:

“We are all in the gutter,
but some of us are looking at the stars.”
–Oscar Wilde

When I need that push to take me out of my comfort zone and remind me that life is short and my future is entirely up to me:

“Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.”
–Anais Nin

And lastly, a quote that makes me feel warm inside:

“Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could.”
–Louise Erdrich

If you have any inspirational quotes you’ve come across recently or just overall favorites, be sure to leave them in the comments. I’d love to read them.

That first quote you posted by Winston Churchill hits home. I love it! For inspiration, I have a set of wallpapers (from http://365q.ca/) for my Mac that rotates to a different wallpaper every time I wake it up from sleep and each wallpaper has a really nice inspirational quote. They keep me going and they’re certainly great reminders when things get tough.

Um………. I could share like 50 billion quotes with you. I love quotes! But I will just give you one that the Churchill one reminded me of and which I often repeat to myself when I’ve had a particularly terrible day that makes me want to give up on everything I ever attempted:

“Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I’ll try again tomorrow.”

One I love and recently discovered is “let the past make you better not bitter” <3

I like that one. Simple but succint.
